Job Summary
This role reports into Specialty Risk Control. Our mission is to partner with industry leaders having expertise in healthcare, cyber security, accounting, finance and other professional services to identify and mitigate risk. Our team supports these professionals by creatively leveraging data and analytics to improve outcomes for our customers, reduce risk in our portfolio, and drive profitability for our organization. We are comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds including credentialed actuaries, risk management professionals and data analysts.
The Data Analytics Sr. Consultant role leads, directs, and represents Specialty Risk Control in the development and deployment of analytical capabilities, technology solutions, client services engagement models, and external publications in order to ensure the most strategic allocation of risk control resources and to improve business outcomes. This individual will work closely with industry experts across departments to understand the specified business units, to help identify and reduce loss exposures, and to support and contribute to their growth and profitability.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Leads projects that involve data analyses or moderately complex modeling to quantify the performance of various business areas and the evaluation of operational changes. These projects require the candidate to be self-sufficient in querying, curating, and transforming data.
• Uses technical expertise to conceptualize and develop new, reusable tools, models, and approaches that provide our partners with insights and recommendations.
• Monitors trends over time and provides actionable insights to ensure resources are strategically deployed in alignment with business unit objectives. Makes recommendations using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
• Builds complex dashboards (using Excel and/or Proprietary Software) and prepares reports for senior management.
• Acts as a technical resource and regularly identifies opportunities to leverage new IT solutions in support of analytics and reporting objectives.
• Actively partners with other analytical teams across the organization and/or participates in special projects.
• Responds to and fulfills ad-hoc requests.

May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Typically Director or above.

• Solid analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to effectively resolve complex situations and issues.
• Ability to creatively and effectively manage through ambiguous and challenging problems.
• Utilizes and manages the available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior results.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Effectively interacts with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
• Technical knowledge of statistics, data management, finance and economics.
• Knowledge of core functions of an insurance company and general insurance.
• Solid project management, organization, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and lead teams.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in actuarial science, finance, economics, risk management or comparable analytical field.
• Typically a minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in R, Python, or similar programming language.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to adapt to other business-related software.
