Data Architect

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and implement data architecture solutions that meet business needs
• Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams
• Design and assist in defining data standards and best practices for data management and governance.
• Lead the maturity planning and migration of legacy into data stores (ie: Data Lakehouse) and modernize on-cloud data stores (Azure Data Warehouse) across the firm
• Work with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to ensure that data is collected, stored, and processed in a way that enables data analytics and machine learning
• Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems and databases
• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data architecture and data management
• Assist in tools selection and execution to support continuous quality improvement and includes; kpi's, metrics, measurements across internal data, external data and meta data
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and assist as needed to consult and direct on other projects and initiatives
• Ensure data security and privacy by implementing appropriate access controls, data masking techniques and data encryption / decryption techniques

Required Competencies, Skills & Abilities

Competencies

• 7+ years working with enterprise-wide data platforms, analytics and reporting solutions. Experience with Azure Databricks is a plus.
• 4+Strong knowledge of database technologies, data modeling, data warehousing, ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, and data governance.
• Proficiency in ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, Prophecy and programming languages such as Python, Scala, R, Spark SQL and .Net
• Several years of experience in data architecture, data management, visualization or a related field
• Experience working with API's for Cloud and SaaS solutions
• 2+ years of experience using Power BI

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively communicate with stakeholders, business leaders, and technical staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to understand complex data structures and identify patterns and trends.
• Strong leadership skills to lead other technical staff, teams and influence business outcomes
• A passion for continued learning and drive for results

Required Education and/or Experience

• Bachelors Degree required
• Prefer Certified Data Management Professional in native cloud technologies - Azure Data Engineer certificates or equivalent

The salary range for this position is $156,000 to $219,000.
