Job Summary:

The Solutions Architect is a vocal futurists that can advocate their vision and be excited about creative problem-solving as part of a cross-functional team. Duties and accountabilities

  • The solution architect is a senior member of the organization, providing critical thought leadership and a steady hand
  • Provide architectural runway against business feature priorities for the upcoming PI, through well thought out solution patterns
  • Act as a trusted specialist for Agile full-stack development teams working to deliver business features in the current PI, including technical troubleshooting
  • Strategic direction setting by building and maintaining the domain target state, along with a roadmap to attain it, within the context of the broader organization
  • Work closely with a team of peers to help elevate the department
  • Perform technology evaluations in support of the development teams, with appropriate recommendations and reasoning
  • Ability to review options in a problem space, including pros and cons of all considered options, and produce a summary assessment, including a recommendation

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • A passion for all things data
  • Full lifecycle Data Architecture experience
  • Strong insurance domain expertise, with London and international markets a plus
  • Ideally have experience in Azure, or secondarily a different cloud environment (e.g. AWS). An Azure Solutions Architect certification would also be useful
  • Experience with both structured and non-structured data, and both relational and non-relational solutions
  • Experience using vendor and open source options
  • A solid grasp of the NFRs for the various implementations and options
  • An understanding of API design, including RESTful Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, to allow for effective collaboration with colleagues and business partners
  • Ability to both explain concepts at a high-level, but also be hands on when working at a low level, utilizing a strong attention to detail
  • Know when to make independent decisions and when to circle back with appropriate questions
  • Work within a new domain by identifying gaps in knowledge and actively seeking the answers
