The Data Architect will be primarily responsible for establishing data governance policies, processes, and standards that are in-line with organizational priorities, and working with Data Stewards and Data Governance in the business to carry out and ensure data is used and maintained accurately.
The successful candidate will have proficiency in promoting efficient, accurate records, and effective information/data management throughout the organization and is responsible for crafting data infrastructure to extract and ocoordinate data for authorized individuals to access. Their duties also include identifying a company's internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to resolve their data storage and organizational needs and partner with Data Engineers who build data pipelines and Cloud Build Team who create and maintain data infrastructure.
The main tasks/responsibilities will include:
- Work with the business to identify requirements for data pipelines related to data projects and validate associated data and pipelines.
- Partnering with the existing data engineering team to deliver data pipelines for the business.
- Define the technical architecture on GCP involving cloud storage, big query, dataproc, cloud functions, dataflow.
- Designing the migration architecture for on-premises data pipelines and data warehouse to Google Cloud Platform.
- Support Data Privacy Program Policies Implementations including Data Use, Data Retention and Maintenance, System and Data Accountability, Privacy Impact Assessment etc.
- Understand and implement data flows, data taxonomy and organization, data lineage, data virtualization.
- Defining and implementing an organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes and objectives and design conceptual and logical data models and database solutions.
- Monitoring and optimizing the data infrastructure and ensuring data quality.
- Ensuring data security and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinating and collaborating with multi-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
Position Requirements
Must Have:
- Expert in understanding data relationships and with strong data exploration skills using SQL.
- Strong Data Management and Data Governance knowledge and implementation experience.
- Experience with implementing data security frameworks and enterprise data architecture best practices.
- Experience creating high level and detailed data architecture & design documentation.
- Business Analyst approach/skills to understand domain data requirements for design deliverables.
- Experience with architecting end to end data solutions for both batch and real time designs.
- Metadata & documentation management required for Erwin modelling, data cataloging.
- Strong data design experience & knowledge that can be applied to big data architectures and cloud data lake environments, (i.e., Very strong data analysis & design experience on GCP and common Utility industry tools for curation and analytics use cases).
- Experience working collaboratively with clients, developers, and architecture teams understanding requirements to design and implement enterprise level data solutions.
- GCP (including Big Query) implementation experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Data Fabric and Data Mesh architecture.
- Experience with data governance tools.
- Experience with Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Experience with Master data Management.
- Python Knowledge Preferable.
- Should have data modeling experience in Big Query.
- Should be able to implement Big Query best practices.
- GCP Professional data engineer certification or GCP Professional Architect certification is preferred.
