Your role at Baxter

As the Data Catalog Lead, you are accountable to lead Baxter's data catalog initiatives. You must proficient in data concepts & principles, data governance, and data quality-with experience cataloging each. Their functional and technical knowledge is required to define metadata requirements and configure the enterprise data catalog to meet the goals of the data governance organization. You will educate system users, training Data Domain Owners and Data Stewards, as well as personally crafting catalog material.

Your team

As a member of the Data Governance organization, you will collaborate with the Associate Director of Data Governance. This individual will be asked to help cultivate a "data driven culture" for our internal and external customers. You will partner closely with Business Owners and IT Leads to build and maintain a comprehensive data reference catalog.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and Support Data Governance Organization by working with data stewards, track and report on data domains (completeness, quality, security), support priorities, define and implement policies and standards.
  • Lead the creation, education, and governance of data catalog best practices by creating guidelines and processes for efficient and effective cataloging of terms, business rules, tagging requirements, lineage, and all other relevant catalog contents
  • Ensure data is classified for proper use (certified / non-certified) and is led in accordance with enterprise polices (retention, handling, security); Partner with the Business and IT to implement usage, privacy, access, and quality controls with innovative infrastructure vital to support all current and future data governance requirements
  • Help align business teams around the use of analytics & domain data-promoting multi-functional access to available data and breaking down departmental silos to encourage effective and efficient use of standard enterprise data
  • Drive training, education and adoption of the data catalog and governance progress by defining metrics related to glossary, business rules, data quality
  • Serve as the business lead for Baxter's data catalog application by partnering with IT to test and implement system upgrades and ensure Baxter is improving the value of the enterprise data catalog; Design and configure Metamodel, the Collibra structure, organized around data assets and metadata asset model
What you'll bring

  • Bachelor degree in related field required
  • 5+ years of experience working with global or regional team members in matrix environment
  • Direct experience with Data Governance tools, preferably Collibra; Experience with Collibra SaaS and configuring and implementing Collibra native Metadata Connectors, Technical Harvesters, ETL and Reporting Connectors to implement end-to-end Data Lineage.
  • Direct experience in crafting and building operating model, metamodel, importing or exporting content, customizing dashboards & widgets, views
  • Experience developing using Java.
  • Hands-on experience implementing out-of-box and developing custom workflows using Eclipse and Groovy scripting to automate Data Governance processes.
  • Data Governance execution and/or operationalization experience in MedTech industry
  • Knowledge of data related industry regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Demonstrate experience of leadership within a team

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $80,000 to $180,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
