The Group: Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors' success at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.
The Role: Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative professional for its Indexes Data Operations team. The primary function of the team is to source, validate and maintain input data for the index portfolios covering reference data, market data, corporate actions and other attributes that define a security, across different asset class like Equity, Fixed Income and ESG. The team is also responsible for handling data acquisition and production automation. We are looking for a content specialist individual contributor, with expertise in Fixed Income data and preferably basic knowledge of Equities, who is passionate about investing and with good knowledge about sourcing, maintaining and validating input data around - maturity, par value, security profile, ratings and yields. Incumbent should also possess ability to develop new methodologies and adapt existing ones for new scenarios for the data sets mentioned above. A general understanding of spot rates, forward rates and term structure of interest rates would be an added advantage. This is a mid-level role in the individual contributor career track, corresponding to a manager in the people manager track. This position will be in Vashi, Navi Mumbai (India).
Responsibilities:

• Serve as a Fixed Income data expert for companies listed on global exchanges
• Work closely with multiple global teams across various functions and participate regularly in global calls and meetings
• Provide expertise on complex security profile from Indexes perspective
• Assist in promoting LEAN Six Sigma tools and methodologies as an analyst framework for assessing the root cause of issues and improving processes
• Ensure appropriate methods and techniques to improve and maintain the highest quality standards in the data collected/ingested by the team
• Develop Fixed Income Indexes dashboards and metrics
• Provide coaching and training to junior team members as appropriate and according to the specific needs of the person and the group.
• Provide floor support by answering questions, solving issues that come up throughout the day
• Lead dataprocess integration based on business requirement.
• Work with technology teams in the role of UAT/Business Owner to complete the design of Fixed Income data ingestion processes and tools
• Perform vendor data analysis to support in new vendor onboarding
• Understand the data being used in Fixed Income Index calculations and develop inhouse data calculation methodology to align with Morningstar Indexes requirement
• In addition to Fixed Income roles and responsibilities, being part of Indexes team acquaint with Equity-side Indexes calculation datasets such as Pricing, Total Outstanding Shares, Float, etc. and support the team on need basis.

Requirements:

• Experience in building or maintaining Fixed Income data at an investment research firm or data vendor.
• Basic to Intermediate level of knowledge in working with databases (SQL) and willingness to grow that skill
• Good analytical skills to research and analyze information to aid in decision making
• Experience working with tools such as ICE, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Factset, Refinitiv, etc. on fixed income data.
• Ability to create and maintain SOP documents on the datasets being used
• Candidate should be either Mumbai based or ready to relocate

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor/Master's degree in finance/business with an exceptional academic record
• Professional degree or CFA preferred
• 5+ years of professional work experience at specialist/senior/principal/lead analyst
• Strong communication skills, people and project management skills
• Interested in financial research and passionate about investing and growing in the passive investing space
• Team player
