Overview
The Data Conversion Services Data Conversion Manager (DCS DCM) oversees the conversion of historical HR and benefits data onto Alight's proprietary benefits system (the TBA System) for Alight's new benefits clients.
This role is the main point of contact with respect to data, both internally with the client implementation and delivery teams and externally with the client. The DCS DCM manages the data conversion project schedule and aligned conversion resources. The DCS DCM consults both internally and externally on data best practices and works closely with other client implementation control account managers to help ensure data requirements match benefits system configuration.
The DCS DCM demonstrates strong consulting skills, extensive plan knowledge, and exceptional data analysis aptitude. S/he is an accomplished project manager and has strong people management and leadership skills.
Responsibility Areas
Client and Team Management
- Sets expectations around data conversion with client implementation team (especially around expectations the DCS control account has of the other control accounts and vice versa).
- Ensures integration of all groups involved in conversion (DCS / Client / Client Implementation and Delivery Teams / 3rd Party Vendors / Prior Recordkeepers / etc.).
- Develops, communicates, and maintains project milestones based on implementation iterations (with sign-off from DCS LSA on overall milestone scheduling).
- Identifies and communicates internal and external risks related to data and works with client, other CIG control account managers, DCS Domain Manager, and IM/PM to implement risk mitigation plan.
- Tracks and resolves open items and manages client deliverables with regard to conversion.
- Communicates conversion status and schedule changes to Implementation Manager and DCS Leadership, weekly (minimum).
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with Client Contact(s), Tech Domain Manager, CIG control account managers, and DCS team members.
- Actively participates in client status meetings and client team leadership meetings.
- Partners with other CIG control account managers and directly with client on all aspects of data requirements, including provisional changes, requirements changes, data cleanup strategies, conversion project scope, delivery model, and best practices.
Data Conversion Requirements and Specifications
- Understands DCS model and capabilities in order to effectively consult client towards the best solutions.
- Learns client plan provisions at level necessary to support data requirements gathering and data analysis.
- Analyzes source data files and layouts to develop data conversion requirements and specifications.
- Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of the source and destination systems.
- Participates in analysis discussions to ensure the data received on conversion data files and data requirements match the system setup.
- Creates and maintains client-ready data conversion requirements document.
- Prepares initial data request and sets schedule for receiving data files.
- Reviews profiling results and understands data in order to identify gaps in requirements.
- Provides input to data edits that should be run to validate accuracy of data received, including client-specific provisional edits.
- Contributes to the completion of the Data Definition Tool.
- Performs user acceptance testing of the data and signs-off on the quality of the overall conversion at each critical milestone.
Process Improvements
- Suggests base improvements to enhance data quality (e.g., new edits).
- Suggests process improvements to DCS Leadership.
- Work with Domain Leads for model improvements.
- Sponsors DCS internal goals.
- Partners with DCS LSA/As and DCS Base Team to work through tough technical issues and implement solutions.
Coaching
- Supports associate skill development.
- Consults with other Conversion Managers on best practice and approaches.
- Consults CIG counterparts on best multi-domain data approach when necessary
- Understands domain best practices and enforces the application of them.
- Escalates performance and development concerns to appropriate DCS Leadership.
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Professional designations (CEBS, PMP, Six Sigma) highly desired.
Knowledge & Experience
- 8-10 years of domain specific delivery experience.
- Proficiency in coaching others (minimum 4-5 years of experience).
- Expert knowledge of delivery model and best practices.
- Experience leading and leveraging through others (3+ years).
- Strong operational experience is a plus.
- CEBS is a plus.
- PMP or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of TBA system including delivery model, data storage and data model, provisional tables versus person tables, and extensive conversion event configuration knowledge; or demonstrated experience learning a similar system.
- Deep understanding of data translation (necessary TBA data elements for the client and how they must be stored and processed through conversion model).
- Able to translate client requirements into specifications (functional) and aid in test planning.
- Mastery of SDLC implementation processes as they relate to conversion.
- Deep domain expertise (in DC, DB, and/or HW).
- Project management experience and the ability to manage large multi-service clients.
- Strong data handling skills (MS Access, AQT, SQL).

Work Conditions
- Travel up to 25% (typically not more than 10%).
- We work in a team environment; there is an expectation that this role portrait represents the core responsibilities of the role but other responsibilities may surface based on what needs to be done.
- Associates in this role are expected to have an overall understanding of the project plan and participate outside of their core responsibilities when needed.
- Fluctuating work schedule can be expected during load periods (nights and weekends) depending on system availability and expected load dates.
- Frequent computer use at workstation up to 2 hours at a time or for extended periods of time.
- Participation in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
