Data Engineer

Who are we?

InsideTrack is a leading provider of data services and technology to the foodservice industry.  Foodservice operators (restaurants, hotels, casinos, healthcare facilities, etc.) use InsideTrack to monitor their spending and purchasing trends.  Our technology cleans and organizes purchasing data from many sources and provides users access to dashboards that clearly lay out important information such as price fluctuations, contract strength, commodity market data, inventory issues, and savings opportunities. InsideTrack is part of Buyers Edge Platform, a Digital Procurement Network for the foodservice industry. 

This role is ideally hybrid based in our New London, CT office but we will also consider it being remotely based. We are unable to provide sponsorship for work authorization for this role.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to hire a Data Engineer for this Data Architecture position reporting into the Chief Technology Officer.  InsideTrack is a growing technology company with a heavy focus on data.  We are looking for a talented individual that will work towards choosing the right data approach for each job, optimizing the data structure of each one of our services, create and maintain pipelines, data storage and overcoming bottlenecks.

Your impact:

• Support and improve our existing data infrastructure
• Expert with AWS data platforms and integrations. Including Data Lakes, pyspark, Glue, and Athena
• Create and modify ETL processes within the AWS Data Ecosystem
• Collaborate with the Development team when designing new solutions
• Solid understanding of RDMS schema and performance. MySQL, Amazon Aurora, Postgres, and Redshift
• Assist developers with data performance improvements
• High level understanding of data storage systems including NoSQL, Time Series, Document and RDMS
• Familiar with data warehousing technologies like Redshift and Snowflake
• Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
• Testing and proposing new technology to solve business problems

What you Bring:

• Four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Information Security or equivalent
• 4+ years experience in a Data Architect or Engineering position
• 3+ years administrating RDMS systems
• 3+ years working with Amazon Web Services in production environments.
• Understanding of at least one scripting language such as Bash, Python, Perl, Golang or Ruby
• Basic understanding of an orchestrator tool such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Git version control
• Experience with monitoring tools, APM, Logging and Infrastructure.
