What You Will Do:
The Data Engineer will provide full-stack development consulting support to a Department of the Army client as part of the Guidehouse Predictive Logistics team.
The Team will be responsible for harnessing, building data pipelines, cleaning, and analyzing large amounts of related data and providing an intuitive and user-friendly set of data visualization dashboards and applications based on this data, to foster a data-driven decision-making approach.
The Team will follow an Agile/Scrum methodology continuously integrating data sets into the data pipeline and coordinating actions with domain experts, the data science team and visualization developers. These actions will drive development of analytics that provide critical decision-making information for Army logistics and operations.
We seek candidates with extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with modern Business Intelligence software with proven ability to work independently in converting business and functional requirements into complex reports, data visualizations and dashboards.
The candidate will serve as a Data Engineer on the team, consulting with the client in the development of an integrated data pipeline, intuitive and user-friendly data visualization dashboards and applications.
Team tasks will include integrating data sources into the pipeline, coordinating integration of data into the data science environment, working with subject matter experts to configure data sources, working with the data science team to develop predictive modeling approaches, and importing data into a visualization engine to develop high impact analytic tools for a wide range or Army users. Ultimately, the client seeks a leading-edge consulting team that is software agnostic and possesses a strategic outlook that produces analytic outcomes that can lead the evolution of Army logistics to meet the dynamic demands of future security scenarios. Analytic outcomes will provide actionable information for maintenance operations, material and supply chain, force readiness, budget planning, training and operations.
Duties will include:
- Identifying and coordinating data source integration into the overall model.
- Working with clients and partners to identify the best technical solution for data source integration.
- Applying best practices for effective and efficient data resource application
- Working with the integrated project team to develop the system, identify and resolve data engineering issues and responding to client requests for tailored analytic applications.
- Working with the project team and the client to determine the best methods to develop, implement and modify the data pipeline to meet objectives.
- Interfacing with the client, the project team, the user base and subject matter experts to develop innovative solutions to critical time sensitive information needs.
What You Will Need:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET federal security clearance; or higher
- TWO (2) or more years of experience
- Assists on small to mid-sized, moderately complex projects or task-related activities
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, math, engineering field preferred; humanities degree with equivalent technical experience
- HackerRank Python (Intermediate) Skills Certification or Equivalent
- HackerRank SQL (Intermediate) Skills Certification or Equivalent
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
- Experience in performing software development efforts with clear examples of value added to the client
- Experience interacting with end-users to understand and document business and functional requirements for complex projects, as well as collaborating with technical teams across the full software development life cycle
- Experience developing web-based user visualizations using JavaScript or TypeScript
- Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., MS Power BI, Tableau, Qlik etc.)
- Understanding and experience working with cloud infrastructure services like Azure, Amazon Web Services & Google Cloud; with a heavy emphasis on AWS.
- Demonstrable experience with web applications. RPA orchestration, cloud architecture, data API integration, data analytics, AI, big data platforms, and automating machine learning components.
- Experience in any database technology (e.g., SQL Server/Azure Cosmos DB/Amazon Athena)
- Experience working with different query languages
- Experience in at least one statistical programming language (e.g., C#, Python, R); knowledge and understanding of Python Pandas is a plus
- Experience or familiarity with Army enterprise data systems and logistics operations
