What we are looking for We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our technical team. You'll be responsible for building a new data warehouse to transform our current data, which will fulfill internal and external requests around data analytics and reports. Additionally, you'll expand and optimize our data and data pipeline architecture. You'll have the opportunity to work with existing big data and build new data structures from the ground up. In this newly created and highly impactful role, you will work closely with others in the product, technical, and other departments.
What you'll do
  • Analyze and adjust existing data and data structures
  • Conceptualize and own the data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, while evaluating design and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs within systems
  • Write and tune complex queries and jobs
  • Design, build, launch, and maintain sophisticated data models, optimal data pipeline architecture and infrastructure
  • Work to ensure data quality and reliability from multiple sources and after necessary transformations
  • Evaluate business requirements and develop plans to meet those
  • Develop tools and reports to illustrate key data
  • Convert manual steps into automated processes
  • Review data for trends and patterns and produce visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand data needs, representing key data insights in a meaningful way
  • Manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership

RequirementsRecommended Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the key responsibilities of the job.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience with at least five (5) years of experience in a Data Engineering position
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of a data warehousefrom scratch within a cloud platform
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and working with relational databases
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a cloud environment - Azure preferred but not required
  • At least 3 years' experience working with Azure DataFactory, Synapse, PowerBI, or similar data tools
  • Some experience in at least 1 object-oriented or scripting programming language
  • Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines and architecture and defining data transformations
  • Experience working in a highly available and scalable environment (working on an application that is used consistently and has very large data sizes)
  • Comfortable training and mentoring more junior engineers, dependent on future growth
  • Strong analytical skills with data sets
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with cross functional teams to accomplish business goals
