Austin, TX - 4 days per week in our Central Austin office, Fridays remote

The Role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Data Engineer to join our growing team as a key contributor to our process and culture. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring the availability and integrity of data for analysis, reporting, and presentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, design efficient data models, and develop APIs to make data accessible across our applications. This is a great role for you if you are a tech-savvy problem solver with expertise in both front-end and back-end development, have a passion for data and a knack for optimizing data workflows, and you love the idea of building something from the ground up.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to collect, process, and store data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, and to help design, architect, and build our data schemas and our software.
  • Create and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to clean, transform, and enrich raw data from multiple sources.
  • Partner with other engineers to design and implement RESTful APIs and services for data access within the organization's applications.
  • Build and manage databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain data models for efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of information.
  • Partner with other engineers to design and implement RESTful APIs and services for data access within the organization's applications.
  • Work on data warehousing solutions to organize and centralize data for efficient querying.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, addressing issues related to data quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Support the development of reporting and analytics features by providing accessible and well-structured data.

Experience we’re seeking:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience, 4+ years as a Data Engineer with a focus on data-related and AI projects.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages to help define and help build out the architecture & framework for our software. 
  • Expert in Python/Go or similar a must. 
  • Strong expertise in data processing, ETL, and data warehousing concepts and tools.
  • Experience with databases, both SQL and NoSQL, including database design and optimization.
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data integration tools and frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with either AWS or GCP platforms, and their data-related services.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and services for data access.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and analysts to understand and meet data requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data security and compliance standards and best practices.
