Introduction to the job

As a Data Engineer in CS Diagnostic Operations team, you will be part of the digital transformation journey within Customer Support Operations towards sustainable improvement in data automation, data visualization and systems applications with the aim of creating value and reducing waste.
Being as part of the CS Diagnostic Operations team, you will respectfully challenge the status quo and act as a role model for Lean thinking, and thereby act as a change agent to help ASML’s Customer Support sector in the transformation towards a Lean organization
 

Role and responsibilities

A Data Engineer in ASML’s US CS organization will work with customer support teams at all US sites: 

  • Process large amounts of data from various structured and/or unstructured sources in order to convert it to useful information

  • Work closely with domain experts to create complex data models for predictive and prescriptive maintenance

  • Perform advanced data activities such as pattern recognition, feature extraction, model evaluation, machine learning

  • Handles data from various data sources and determines how best to structure the data in order to provide data in a usable format for engineers and other stakeholders

  • Writes high quality, maintainable and robust code

  • Works with CS engineers to understand CS workflow pain points and works with system engineers and developers to enhance CS Diagnostics Toolbox applications to improve engineering efficiency

  • Works with product owners of sw applications such as DDF, Fab Monitoring, TPMS, and other tools in the CS Diagnostics Toolbox to reconcile key features, functions, and performance enhancements on the products’ roadmaps

  • Where needed, designs, develops, tests, and implements custom solutions to help CS engineers improve efficiency

  • Travel domestically to various ASML sites in the USA to understand AIDTL (A-Day-In-The-Life) of the CS engineers, collect requirements and perform other business alignment activities. Occasional international travel may be required. 

  • Escalate when needed by providing clear problem statements and technical communication. 

  • Participate in the continuous improvement lifecycle by reporting defects, performing post-mortems, updating procedures, and seeking opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and sw application performance 

  • Keep up to date with latest ASML machine changes as well as with latest advances in data science by continuous learning and training.

  • Travel (primarily domestic) up to 25%

Education and experience

  • MS or PhD in data science, applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, materials science, or information technology or other relevant field is required

  • If PhD, 3+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in semiconductor manufacturing)

  • If MS, 5+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in semiconductor manufacturing)

  • Expert in organizing and managing data structures

  • Demonstrated experience creating software applications, including data analysis tools, scripts, programs, and graphical interfaces.

  • Working knowledge with software development lifecycle (Agile)

  • Working w/customers (either internal or external) to collect requirements, user stories, and conveying the Voice of the Customer (VoC)

  • Expert proficiency in common data science languages, technologies and toolkits such as Matlab, Python, Tcl/Tk, SQL, JSON, XML

  • Working experience with the following technologies: Spark, Databricks, Azure

  • Demonstrated application of neural networks, machine learning, data analytics, and algorithm development

  • Experience working inside a manufacturing environment

  • The ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English is required

  • While not mandatory the ideal candidate would also have web design experience, cross-cultural work experience, and working proficiency with generative AI

  • Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.

  • Can learn and apply new information or skills.

  • Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents. 

  • Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism. 

  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.

  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.

  • Result driven-demonstrate ownership and accountability. 

  • Identifies bottlenecks and drives improvements. 

  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with manager, co-workers and customer.

  • Work according to a strict set of procedures within the provided timelines.

Other Information

  • Travel (approximately 25%) will be based upon business need and durations may vary from several days to several weeks.

  • Position is based in Hillsboro, OR
