Data Engineer (Hybrid location)
Job Description
The Data Engineer is a member of the CDT Data & Analytics team and is responsible for the design, development, testing, maintenance, and support of Columbia's enterprise data assets. As a Data Engineer, you will join a Product Squad operating under Agile methodology to prioritize and deliver data capabilities supporting our operations in an area such as Supply Chain, Direct to Consumer, or Merchandising.
Daily activities include acquiring data from a variety of on-premise and cloud sources, ingesting into Azure Data Lake, transforming the data into usable data assets using SQL or PySpark on the Databricks platform, and integrating into tables in Azure Synapse for further usage by our stakeholders. In this role you will collaborate with Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, Data Governance Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and fellow Data Engineers.

ABOUT THE POSITION

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Collaborate with other engineers on data modeling (relational and dimensional), data lake & data warehouse development, data pipeline development (ETL), and support.
- Continuously deliver and improve prioritized enterprise data assets that enable the growth of Columbia's global analytics, reporting and visualization solutions.
- Coordinate frequently with several enterprise support organizations and Columbia end users.
- Manage scheduling, support, tools and maintenance of integration processes.
- Participate in the use of Agile practices to elicit and refine requirements through an iterative process of planning, defining acceptance criteria, prioritizing, developing and delivering enterprise data asset solutions.
YOU ARE
- Eager to design and deliver data models on the Azure cloud technology platform for corporate Business Intelligence & Reporting scenarios.
- Excited to shape new capability and collaborate with other engineers on project direction.
- A strong communicator who can tailor their style to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to quickly grasp technical concepts and solve problems.
YOU HAVE
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field or a combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience designing and developing data models, implementing data transformations, and managing production implementation of data assets in support of Reporting & Business Intelligence scenarios.
- Conversant in relational database concepts such as normalization, indexing, physical and logical modeling, creation of SQL queries and performance tuning.
- Solid technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making, and the appropriate sense of urgency.
