Data Engineering Manager, AI, Data Analytics & Reporting

Nuveen has an opportunity for an experienced Data Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate individual must have hands-on expertise with data analytics, reporting, and data productization to lead our engineering team. This role you will be responsible for leveraging our data infrastructure, reporting tools to develop advanced data analytics solutions, generate actionable business reports, and treat data as an asset.

The candidate will require an in depth understanding of data engineering principles, Data Lakehouse architecture, understanding of Generative AI techniques focused on AWS, data zone, and the ability to collaborate closely with business and technology teams. This position will be in our Iselin, NJ or Charlotte, NC office. We work in a hybrid-flex environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead a small team of data engineers in designing and implementing advanced data analytics solutions, using our data infrastructure, reporting tools, and AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions that provide actionable insights and drive data productization.
• Develop effective business reports, dashboards, and visualizations; migrate legacy reports to modern platforms.
• Foster a culture that treats data as a product, deep understanding of data governance concepts and utilize them to define and implement data products and expose via virtualization layer.
• Develop migration plans and help vertical teams migrate from legacy infrastructure to moderndata Lakehouse to use data products.
• Remain current with advancements in AI, Generative AI, data analytics, reporting tools, and data engineering technologies to drive innovation.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing or leading a team of data engineers or development teams.
• Minimum of 5+ years of building applications that use data analytics and reporting to solve business problems.
• Minimum of 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Python, SQL, or other programming languages that has a focus on data engineering, AI, and Generative AI techniques.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience with reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker for developing interactive visualizations.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience with data engineering technologies, including ETL frameworks, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.

Preferred:

• Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills, and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and diverse team.

• Demonstrated ability to function in an environment which requires flexibility, good judgment and intelligent decision making, often based on limited information and/or extreme conditions.
• Passionate about AI and innovation and eager to learn and grow.
• Experience with virtualization technologies like Starburst to expose the Data products to end users and manage the access permissions.

Base Pay Range: $118,800/yr. - $220,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
