 The Data Engineering Technology team provides Point72 with a scalable data engineering capability and set of data services to support the Firm’s expanding data needs. We focus on solutions such as cloud computing, data platforms for large scale data processing, data governance, data quality, enterprise reference data, business automation, data entitlements, and high touch service. We have team members across four continents who collaborate to support the Firm’s global footprint of investment strategies. 

What you’ll do 

As a Data Governor you will work with the Head of Data Governance and our partners to support the build-out of our new enterprise data governance framework. The scope of the data governance framework consists of but is not limited to a committee/workgroup structure to allow communication and review of data challenges, data catalogs, data models, data dictionaries/taxonomies, defined data ownership, lineage maps, defined metadata, defined quality KPI’s. Our team actively participates in stewarding that process and data curation. Specifically, you will: 

• Build data governance capabilities (people, process & technology) where they currently do not exist along the data life cycle, including data scanning, cataloging, curation, and publishing 
• Manage engagement and relationships with enterprise-level product/service areas 

• Design and execute data management solutions with technology and business leaders in close collaboration with data scientists, analytical SME’s, Compliance, and InfoSec 
• Be the point of contact on data governance issues for specific functions and/or departments 
• Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data modeling standards, data entitlements, and adoption of data taxonomies across the enterprise 
• Enable periodic data governance work group/delivery meetings to update, review, and assess the execution of key projects or support of company “Big Rock” initiatives 
• Collaborate with business leads to define/deliver initiatives, monitor key data issues, and drive adoption of and adherence to core data management metrics 

What’s required 

We are looking for someone who is deeply curious during data discovery/analysis, open to new ideas/approaches, collaborative when formulating solutions, and passionate about facilitating the adoption of solutions. We are looking for the following qualifications in a candidate:  

• 10+ years of data management experience with 5+ years within the data governance space 
• Previous experience within the financial services industry 

• Proficient in core data management and governance technology platforms such as Informatica EDC, and Axon-Marketplace  
• Hands-on experience with data lake and cloud platforms (AWS or Databricks) 
• Working knowledge of core data architecture, modeling concepts, and tooling such as Erwin, ER/Studio, etc. 
• Experience with data search and data integration tools such as SQL, Informatica, or Talend 
• Project delivery and tracking experience with tools such as Jira  

• Exposure and working knowledge of back-end environments/development tooling including Linux, Github, and DataDog 
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across business, technology, and leadership verticals to align goals, deliverables, needs, and status updates 
• Experience implementing data governance standards, policies, tooling, training, and architecture 
• Ability to liaise with product/service area leaders as part of an enterprise data governance roadmap including strategic priorities that drive information-based capabilities
