Ardent is seeking a Data Lake Architect to join our team.  

Position Description:

Ardent is seeking a Data Lake Architect, specializing in all activities related to the administration of data lake servers. The scope of this project is to provide a variety of current and future IT operational support and application development services for a law enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security. In addition to the specific support areas identified below, the optimal candidate will support any future technologies that are adopted by the government to improve enterprise-wide business and mission applications.  

This individual shall provide all activities related to the administration of data lake servers. Must be able to manage, build, administer, develop, test, or demonstrate the capabilities of the data lake environment. Be able to perform many data lake administrative functions across multiple servers that use microservices architecture. Must be able to define standards and techniques to guide architecture solution decisions for microservices architecture. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide data lake solutions that are built for performance, fault tolerance, and security and ensure quality data is being ingested and utilized.
  • Provide senior-level knowledge to support Solr, Apache Spark, Minio, Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, Redis, Presto, Prometheus, React, and Nginx 
  • Support a large microservices architecture environment with experience in adding and removing nodes, configure and tune clusters, and monitor the environment 
  • Resource must be able to support the current implementation and ongoing future enhancements to data lake infrastructure.
  • Provide the ability to administer the data lake infrastructure utilizing Red Hat Linux and be able to perform the following:
    • Security setup 
    • Configuration changes 
    • Tuning
    • Troubleshooting 
    • Monitoring  

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related fields 
  • Must have extensive Python experience and capabilities to create Bash/shell scripts 
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes 
  • Experience with MySQL and Microsoft SQL 
  • Experience with Prometheus
  • Experience building and maintaining data systems in the Microsoft Azure cloud
  • Excellent skills in leadership and prior IT systems and systems implementation projects.
  • Experience in sustaining and maintaining mobile applications which depend on web service integration (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).  

Preferred:

  • Previous experience supporting DHS and existing DHS EOD a ++
