A day in the life
Class support on lecture days:
- Monitor designated Slack channels and promptly respond to any technical inquiries from Fellows.
- Provide support to Fellows encountering technical difficulties solving the challenges
- Conduct weekly Office Hours via Slack, offering technical guidance and assistance to fellows
Class support on non-lecture days:
- Monitor the appropriate Slack channels to answer Fellows’ technical questions
- Review the materials for the week so you are prepared to answer questions
- Participate in the weekly C1 & TA meeting (time TBD)
- Submit weekly write-ups summarizing the week’s accomplishments, challenges, and personal appreciations. This is due by Monday at 8pm EST each week
- Monitor the #extra-help channel on Slack during your designated Office Hours to answer Fellows’ questions
- Attend live pitch/presentation practices on Mondays and engage in breakout sessions
- Grade data challenges presentation videos: One video recording, one live session
Time Commitment
- During the program (~ 14 hours per week):
- Live pitch sessions with fellows: 7 hours
- Monitoring and answering questions on Slack: 1 hour
- Internal team meeting with C1 team: 1 hour
- Live Professional Development time on Monday: 5 hours
- Grading
Program Dates
- Onboarding session: Saturday, October 7th
- Lecture days (Mondays only): October 9th, October 13th, October 23rd, October 30th, November 6th, November 13th, November 27th - from 7 PM to 9 PM EST time
- Break Week (No Class) November 20th
- Office Hours: From Tuesdays to Thursdays via Slack according to your schedule availability
Your expertise
- Minimum 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional data experience
- Reliable, with solid organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with Python (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, statsmodels, scikit-learn …) and Excel required, familiarity with Tableau and SQL preferred
- Machine Learning experience (like working with deep learning models, natural language processing, computer vision, and other advanced techniques)
- Data engineering experience creating pipelines, using Cloud technologies and Big Data tools.
- Ability to translate data into business contexts
- Experience in retail or finance industry is preferred
- Personable and approachable
- An affinity for communicating with others in an empathetic and considerate manner
- Proactive problem-solver, high attention to detail, and a quick learner
Where you are
This role is remote and open to applicants in the US.
Compensation
DLCs will be compensated $45/hour, based on self-reported hours worked. Additionally, There is a $500 bonus available for DLCs with good performance and rating from the Fellows (program participants). The bonuses are awarded at the end of the program at the discretion of C1 staff.
