What Will be Your Purpose?

Data Management Analysts support Data Management Consultants, and work directly with data governance stakeholders, business leaders, subject matter experts, and other technology professionals to create and execute on data risk reduction or value improvement propositions. The scope of this work involves one or more of the following data management disciplines: reference data management, data protection, data stewardship, master data management, data platform management, data strategy or data enablement and capabilities. Applies data protection or business value requirements to design, document and recommend possible data management and governance solutions. Participates in the creation of business specifications and contributes to system specifications aligned with business requirement and needs. Provides input into data management and governance project plans. Prepares, maintains, and contributes to data management and governance deliverables and artifacts, including flow charts, conceptual models, policies, procedures, standards, desktop procedures, guides, glossaries, code sets, metrics, scorecards and reporting to assist with the ongoing operation and maintenance of data management and governance solutions. Assigned to complex projects, systems or initiatives related to ongoing organization data management and governance needs. Data Management Analysts lead efforts, oversee work results, provide meeting facilitation and training, and serve as data experts for other business, technical and analytic resources.

What You'll be Doing?

  • Produces and maintains data management products and artifacts as part of operational- or project-based tasks and ensures necessary design considerations are made in alignment with documented requirements.
  • Contributes to the operational- or project-based analysis and documentation of data-related assets, sources, business, and technical requirements; identifies impacted areas/systems/technical and business processes; and evaluates solutions and best practices.
  • Participates in and provides consultation during the review of system requirements and functional design solutions for data assets, functionality and enhancements to existing data assets and functionalities.
  • Takes the initiative to seek out areas of improvement.
  • Contributes to final review of design specifications to ensure business stakeholder/end user/data consumer needs are met.
  • Researches and assists in developing approaches for identifying and Resolving system or data-related problems.
  • Participates in efforts to identify and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Acts as a matrix leader -- partnering with business and project leaders to ensure goals are achieved; and identifying opportunities and efficiencies and overcoming obstacles with projectized work.
  • Performs analysis for highly complex projects, systems, or initiatives.
  • Act as a mentor to other business, technical and analytics partners and analysts.
  • Works with technical staff to ensure system components and functional flow of / between components is compliant with documented requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to practices, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in executing tests or validations for various system components and data transformations / migrations.
  • Influences business/IT/analytics stakeholders by recommending decisions and solutions built on approved requirements, value propositions and business case roadmaps.

What You Must Have?

  • Required Work Experience: 6+ years related work experience in Data management, data governance, data quality improvement, data security, data protection, data analytics, data-focused business or systems analysis, application development, data architecture or comparable role.
  • Required Education: Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience IT, Data or Analytics field.
  • Thorough knowledge of Information Technology systems supporting data management.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet customers' needs by understand business drivers, process and data needs and translate them into implementable data solutions that create value for the organization.
  • Strong understanding of integration points of assigned business/systems and processes.
  • Proven leadership abilities including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions, fairness and displaying appropriate levels of assertiveness.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering methodologies and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Understanding of a variety of architecture standards and ability to apply them in their design work.
  • Proven communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in a meaningful way (technical and business).
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of systems, subsystems, development methodologies, systems architecture, tools, and processes that support the assigned business initiative or system.
  • Experience in applying continuous improvement, DMAIC, data/process analysis or other similar methodologies to business solutions.
  • Knowledge of systems development concepts and methods.
  • Experience with business requirements and business process analysis to ensure IT solutions meet the business needs.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and ability to facilitate adoption of changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Experience interacting with data systems (like Oracle, SQL Server, IBM DB2, or Hadoop/HBase).
  • Experience writing database queries in languages like SQL or SAS.

What is Preferred?

  • Health care or health insurance industry related experience.
  • Data management or data governance related experience.
  • Experience with business, technical, and data process engineering.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies (like SAFe).
  • Experience using Agile project management applications (like Broadcom Rally).
  • Experience with quality assurance tools (like HP ALM).
  • Experience with data management and governance applications (like Informatica).
  • Preferred Education: Technology, Data or Analytics Degree.

General Physical Demands:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
