Reporting to the Director of Business Insight, the Data Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of strategic cross-departmental data products created by the Data-Driven Organisation programme (DDO). This role represents a significant step for our customer in advancing from department-specific initiatives to strategically important data outcomes. Several strategic data products need to be identified, developed, delivered and utilised to modernise data infrastructure. 

The position acts as a crucial link between peers within the program delivery teams (such as Data Architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Data Engineers, etc.) and business stakeholders (ranging from Directors to Business Analysts) to ensure effective coordination and widespread understanding of the Data Products being delivered.

Please note this is a hybrid role and the successful candidate is expected to work from our customer's Dublin office at least once a week.

Required Skills: 

  • Initiative-taking, driven, pragmatic individual, focused on delivery for business benefit
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally at levels up to Director
  • Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills – driving satisfactory resolution of delivery conflicts, supported by strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Accustomed to balancing the need to focus on short-term results while delivering on a long-term vision that requires sustained transformation
  • “Can-do” approach and thirst for driving continuous improvement and evolution
  • Enthusiastic, curious, energetic and resilient in the face of a continuously changing landscape
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Comfortable articulating complex delivery problems simply for senior stakeholders to respond to
  • 5 years+ experience in a data product management, data science or a related field
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification
  • A strong understanding of best practices, tools and techniques for product management
  • Advanced level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite – Including Project, Visio, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and proven experience of working with iterative product delivery methodologies including Waterfall & Agile

Key responsibilities & duties include:   

  • Product vision: Responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the data product by understanding the requirements of the stakeholders and the colleagues in their areas and aligning that with what is technically feasible within the required timeframes
  • Product roadmap: Developing, with stakeholders and DDO colleagues, the roadmap for delivery, from the MVP through to the various iterations until mature
  • Product performance: Establishing methods to understand the performance of the product from a user perspective, likely leading to further development or backlog items  
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Building relationships with and collaborating with stakeholders and other colleagues routinely to establish:
    • Effective requirements gathering
    • Project and requirements governance
    • Monitoring of product usage
    • Communications with all parties of goals, timescales, deliveries etc.
