Data Product Manager

The Forbes Marketplace umbrella provides journalist and expert-written insights, news and reviews on all things personal finance, health, business, and everyday life decisions. We work across 3 main brands: Forbes Advisor, CNN, and USA Today.  We provide consumers with the knowledge and research they need to make confident, informed decisions so they can get back to doing the things they care about most.

Our Data team has created this role to support the data engineering team to focus on the highest priority projects that maximize the value of data to internal teams.  The initial priority of the role is to support the data engineering manager to manage the large backlog of tickets for our GCP data architecture, and support communication with business stakeholders.  Longer term, this role will transition to support the wider data team with initiatives in our internal data visualization platform, and data science projects. This role will report directly to the VP Data & Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather context, requirements, scope, key objectives, and deliverables.

• Work with data engineers and stakeholders to set realistic timelines and keep relevant teams updated with progress.

• Develop roadmaps and project plans, including tasks and timelines, and support team managers with resource allocation.

• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies - communicating clearly with stakeholders and data leadership as appropriate.

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives).

• Coordinate project releases and deployments.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• 4+ Years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience working with non-technical stakeholders to gather technical requirements.

• Relevant experience working with data engineering teams, or data analysts.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

• Familiarity with Data Engineering Concepts and a data Cloud Platform (ideally GCP).

• Experience working with JIRA (ideally with cloud version).
