- Responsible for financial and business-related analysis and reporting. Defines business and legal reporting requirements through research, interpretation of regulations, and business unit requests to meet customer needs.
- Manages data through proficiency in company databases, warehouses, and other tools as necessary.
- Oversees and prepares customized reports as requested.
- Analyzes data and provides recommendations as appropriate.
- Researches discrepancies in reports and explains potential issues.
- Manages data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
- Oversees systems development to address information and reporting needs.
- Oversees data quality and communicates regarding adequacy and deficiency of quality to appropriate company departments.
- Ensures the department collects business intelligence data to inform business and product decisions.
- Provides departmental and companywide training in areas of responsibility.
- Recommends and/or approves departmental manuals/instructions.
- Ensures the department or functional area meets policies and practices. Aligns unit with business objectives.
- Ensures that the team meets performance targets.
- Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Field of Study: Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Experience: Generally, 8 or more years of related experience, including prior insurance industry experience and 1 to 3 years of leadership experience. May be in the process of obtaining or may have already completed certification in area of expertise; appropriate certifications could include; Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM), Certified Insurance Data Manager (CIDM), or a Certificate in General Insurance (INS), or a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Divisional Additions
- Assist Product Owners in gathering requirements for reports/visualizations. Build visualizations, provide training, work with Support group to build documentation, and provide report revisions as needed.
- Become expert in data flow for GARS systems and Tableau data sources.
- Use Tableau Prep to prototype data flow for new data elements, transition flows to production or to DataMart for maintenance.
- Work closely with business customers and product owners to create and maintain product backlog according to business value (ROI).
- Works closely with the IT department within the business for the purpose of facilitating easy and effective access to computing and data resources within the business.
- Remain up to date on trends and best practices for agile project management, analytics tools, visualization tools, etc.
- Lead the product-release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities.
- Serve as product ambassador internally and externally, sharing knowledge and answering questions.
Additional Skills/Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of agile methodology for project management
- Bachelor's degree required
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and mentoring skills
- Experience with visualization software, Tableau a plus
- Experience with Python preferred
