Job Description

The Enterprise Data & Analytics team is looking to hire an Enterprise Data Governance and Risk Specialist. This role will be a part of Enterprise Data Governance and responsible for establishing Data Governance strategies and execution of the strategies where needed to minimize data risk and assure compliance with relevant laws and legislation. The position will be a leader and seasoned multi-disciplinary expert responsible for influencing change in reducing residual risk across the global organization.

This position is open to Remote candidates living in an approved area.

Major Duties

  1. Carries out the most complex initiatives and ambiguous issues involving Data Risk and Regulations across the entire enterprise.
  2. Consistently displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the rest of the business and technology to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
  3. Exhibit strong relationship management skills to ensure Data Governance Leads, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians and others are compliant to the Data Policies and Standards.
  4. Participate in internal committees and forums as well as industry forums and conferences to identify potential data risk for Northern Trust and shape industry change.
  5. Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost working with Data Governance Leads, Process Owners, and Application Owners as well as other stakeholders.
  6. Establish and implement an oversight process to track regulatory initiatives ensuring delivery of data requirements
  7. Oversee periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with the data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing).

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of risk management and strategic goals for the data governance.
  • In depth knowledge of regulations, federal, state, and local laws related to data acquired through formal education and work experience.
  • Excellent Communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients, and analyze information and apply regulations.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational awareness skills
  • Preferred knowledge of Cloud and Third Party Data Risk and Regulations

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of work history
  • 10 or more years of risk management and data experience.
