Summary of the role:

As a data engineer at Navitaire you will get to design and implement data solutions that affect millions of people every year from all over the world.
As a data engineer you will help design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain large-scale data processing systems for airlines around the world.
In this role you'll:
- Design, develop, and support scalable data solutions within Azure using Airflow, Databricks, Delta Lakes and other applications
- Step out of your comfort zone by exploring new tech, and find new ways to solve old problems
- Work with data scientists, data analysts, business analysts, and business intelligence to implement features to support our data platform architecture
- Analysis, design, development, and maintenance of ETL systems
- Improve ETL performance within a modern data architecture
- Curate data from disparate sources for consumption by analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence
- Advanced SQL development and performance tuning
- Design and build master dimensions to support analytic data requirements
- Identify, communicate, and make use of best practices for data warehousing and data lakes
- Connect data suppliers (source owners, DBA's, third parties, etc.) and data consumers (analysts, data scientists, developers, etc.)
- Mentor and lead others
Qualifications:
- Inclined to act with attention to detail and commitment to quality, but most of all a team player
- Comfortable working independently with data customers (BI, Data Scientists, etc.)
- Experience working in an agile development environment, preferably Scrum and associated workflow management tools
- Proficiencies in the following areas:
- Python
- SQL
- dbt
- EL tooling (Qlik, Fivetran, Stitch, etc.)
- Architecture of data warehouse and data lake ETL
- Public cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Problem resolution and communication skills
- 3+ years of experience
Bonus Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience
- Databricks using delta lakes
- Apache Airflow
- Azure DevOps
- Skills in other data tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Worked with time series DBs, telemetry data, and data streaming. (e.g. Apache Kafka, Splunk, Databricks)
