Data Science Intern

Position Overview

Novelis manufacturing processes produce the operational run-time data for each coil across 15+ machine centers in various plant throughout the globe. To standardize Machine Learning models across various plants, we plan to build a Data Science platform with common set of libraries of routines. We also plan to build a common library of features used in our models allowing faster go-to-market of the new models.

The Data Science Co-op will help develop routines using Object Oriented Python classes and methods.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Learnings:

• The Data Science Co-op will understand software development lifecycle and work in a professional environment.
• Learn different components of a product such as the backend and the frontend. Get an opportunity to work on both aspects.
• Learn the development lifecycle of the backend and the frontend. The backend work is heavy on using machine learning algorithms. The frontend work is heavy on UI/UX of the product.
• Learn the integration of the components to create a sing le product.

Qualifications

• A proficient understanding of Python based Object Oriented Programming, ReactJS, and Django
• Experience with software and model engineering concepts such as versioning, model deployment and model retraining etc.
• Hands on experience with such Python libraries as Scikit-Learn, Unittest and Pytest, Flask and MLFlow

Preferred Qualifications

• Either have completed Masters in Software Engineering/Data Science or currently enrolled in a program
• Understanding of git workflow and CI/CD.
• Experience in Collaborative and Iterative Development
• Desire for continuous development and learning opportunities
• Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and time management skills
