Data Science Manager

What we're looking for

The product data science develops ML algorithms for important product initiatives for Momentive. We are equipped with rich product data ranging from text to image and video. We build modern ML models to solve customer issues. We work with Machine Learning engineers to ship models in production. In the past, we have filed patents about our novel machine learning algorithms and productionized many AI models to help customers from survey creation to insight extraction, such as bias questions identification models to provide recommendations on rephrasing these questions, sentiment analysis models to reveal the emotions behind what respondents are thinking, and response quality models to suggest removing bad responses.

You are a hands-on technical leader with rich experience in building text analysis models and insight projects. You will partner with Machine Learning Platform, Legal, Security, Application Engineering, Product Management, Product Design, and Survey Research teams to execute the product roadmap. You are well versed and passionate about building machine learning solutions. You are excellent at influencing the engineering community by encouraging win-win relationships. You will report to the Senior Manager for Data Science.

You will

• Manage a distributed team of 3 -5 data scientists in a remote friendly environment and and set the strategy for future hires
• Lead the team to enhance our text analysis capabilities and insight solutions
• Promote ML solutions across multiple use cases across different domains
• Collaborate with cross functional teams from different time zones to guide product improvements through data-driven decisions
• Promote excellence in execution by streamlining agile processes, clarity in project definition, and making smart trade-offs between tech debt accumulation and pay off

You have

• 5+ years of hands-on data science experience
• 2+ years of management experience
• A Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field
• Experience with applied machine learning techniques, including natural language processing, classification, insight models, personalization, ranking
• Experience with the lifecycle of ML-enabled products
• Ability to coach the team, helping team members improve their skillsets and grow their careers
• A track record for making it happen - rapid and clean execution
