Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) is a new business unit within Collins Aerospace which aims to bring many connectivity and digital solutions to life and fulfill one of the strategic pillars of our company. Within CAS, the Data Analytics, Visualizations and Science department is responsible for delivering value from datasets utilizing data analysis and presentation related skills. We would like to offer you an opportunity to be a Product Owner within our team where you will play an integral role in a high growth and visibility area of the Collins Aerospace company.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates closely with the Technical Product Managers / Project Engineers to align the product roadmap with the technical roadmap, define scope, features, and "definition of done."
  • Develop, define, refine, and prioritize backlog of work items that guide the Agile data science development teams.

  • Translates product roadmap into features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead globally-distributed Agile development teams on best practices, including regular cadence meetings, and facilitating retrospectives on improvements.
  • Continues to improve data-science specific work process lifecycle.
  • Coach teams on Agile execution.
  • Liaise between project management and planning, product teams, value stream leaders (program managers) and senior management.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product progress, keeping customers and stakeholders informed of the progress of the product.
  • Manages development by keeping management tools up-to-date based on team feedback, looking for aging work items, monitoring workflow for bottlenecks.
  • Assess project issues and collaborate with subject matter experts and functional leads to conduct comprehensive impact assessments and to develop change management and communication plans.
  • Design, measure, and report success metrics and monitor progress.
  • Lead the planning and execution of discovery and design sessions/workshops focused on ideation, solution design, rapid prototyping, and solution iteration.

  • Works collaboratively with data scientists, data engineers, business analysts.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% annually.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience working in highly collaborative environments. May have experience as a SCRUM Master, Product Owner, Product Manager, Project Manager, and/or technical lead.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and lead efforts spanning multiple stakeholders and the capability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Concisely communicates with stakeholders and development team.
  • Closely collaborate with the engineering function managers for appropriate resource planning, removing impediments.
  • Advanced experience with Agile practices and tools (Azure Devops, JIRA).
  • US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as an individual contributor in data science/machine learning or general data analysis.

  • Experience in the aerospace industry or with aerospace datasets.
  • Strong working experience in working with at least one of the cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure.
  • Experience in parallel processing such as EMR, Glue, Databricks and distributed programming using Python/Scala and Spark.
  • Understanding of CI/CD framework
  • Experience in Data Management, Data Modeling, Data Architecture & Data Governance concepts.

  • Familiarity with Data Visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or other visualization tools

Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
