Digital Infuzion has created and is constantly improving a comprehensive scientific data management, sharing, and analysis platform we use to deliver Data Coordination Services (DCS) to large multi-center research networks of clinical scientists with a mission to improve patient care. We are seeking an exceptional individual with a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and data science to assume the role of Data Science Specialist for a new DCS program. In this role, you will use your subject matter and technical expertise to develop data collection and data analysis pipelines that evaluate the impact of the work performed by the research network. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a DCS recently awarded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that will support a broad range of activities for the largest NIH program in translational science research.
Who you are
The ideal candidate is an individual passionate about data-driven decision-making, process improvement, and recent progresses in machine learning and AI. You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science or equivalent experience that includes Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Engineering.
- You have a desire to apply your skills to the development of an impact analysis framework for a large biomedical research program.
- You understand the challenges of finding consensus when selecting meaningful metrics of impact and performance.
- You enjoy working in a highly multi-disciplinary team that includes life and computer scientists.
Core Responsibilities
- Search through large private and public datasets for usable information.
- Apply Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms to analyze patterns, trends, and common topics from unstructured text.
- Develop deep learning NLP models to classify information and contribute to predictive analysis.
- Create data models, business process models, and databases.
- Create reports and presentations for business uses.
- Leverage AI/ML techniques and solutions to interpret complex healthcare problems.
- Effectively communicate with all data generators and submitters to address requests, questions and concerns and clearly document actions taken.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in data science or equivalent experience that includes Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience in data exploration, data pre-processing for analytics, data mining, and data visualization.
- Experience with developing data extraction pipelines and analyzing structured or unstructured data.
- Education or experience with natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning (ML).
- Ability to work closely with domain experts to develop tools/algorithms.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain developed tools and algorithms used to a diversity of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with NLP and ML frameworks, toolkits, and code libraries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in data science or equivalent experience that includes Statistics, Mathematics, Linguistics, or Computer Engineering.
- Education or experience in deep learning (DL).
- Experience with R, Java, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ApacheSpark, ApacheNiFI, SQL, NoSQL, Tableau or AWS Quicksight, JavaScript, TypeScript, GIT and Azure.
- Familiarity with common NLP ontologies, FrameNet and WordNet, BioBERT, topic modeling algorithms such as LDA, and cluster analyses.
- Ability to leverage co-pilot/ChatGPT code generators to accelerate productivity while actively correcting, modifying, and thoroughly testing generated code.
- Life Science education or experience.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
