Data Science/Engineer Intern

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

• Extract and manipulate large amounts of data in Python and/or SQL to create insights about Allison Transmissions' product operation and usage
• Design and deploy dashboards (PowerBI) focused on business value creation, trends discovery and KPI indicators relevant across various stakeholders and their priorities

• Successfully work in a broader team to understand stakeholders' interests and value data could bring
• Prioritize workload while working on multiple projects in parallel
• Suggest new ways to combine datasets, document discrepancy, and recommend data pipeline improvements
• Use version control (GitHub) and modern software development practices (CI/CD) facilitating interactions (Jira) within the team members as well as participation in code review sessions.
• Natural curiosity, dedication to discover insights through exploratory analysis and ease to work with ambiguity and vaguely defined requirement

Bonus experience:

• Hands-on experience with Apache PySpark in Databricks workspace
• Experience with scikit-learn or any other ML libraries
• Spatial analytics with GeoPandas and GIS tools
• Conceptual knowledge of a cloud computing environment (Azure, GCP, AWS)

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing degree in STEM field or business /analytics.
• Strong emphasis on successful implementation of business insights and internal value creation
• Ingenious and curious mind, comfortable with occasional ambiguity and Agile development process
• Please expect to demonstrate your coding capabilities during a live coding session
