Job Description

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company is seeking a mid-level Data Scientist to become a key member of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) engineering team responsible for analyses of flight test, ground test, and other simulation-based testing of the Missile Defense System (MDS) in support of the MDA Test Analysis and Reporting activity. The Data Scientist position will be responsible to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot analytics and derive key insights from data visualizations and analyze Missile Defense System Flight and Ground Test events. The Data Scientist will work with cross-functional teams and leadership to identify requirements to produce data structures, visualizations, and dashboards while implementing best practices that provide actionable insights. The Data Scientist will work with a variety of data sources to develop and implement data and business intelligence (BI) applications to enable data-driven decision making. The position is in Huntsville, AL.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors degree and 8 years experience
• Experience in design, development and deployment of Tableau Dashboards and data workflows using Tableau Prep and/or Alteryx
• Experience in developing custom workflows, preparing, blending, conforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources, including flat files, database connections, API's
• Experience with complex Tableau concepts required in meeting client requirements and building advanced visualizations
• Expert at workbook performance troubleshooting in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server
• Strong SQL experience and ability to write complex queries
• Good understanding of data modelling concepts and data analysis
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing or Data Lake concepts
• Understanding of Tableau user security using Tableau and Tableau Server functionalities for user management and permissions
• Knowledge of visualization and Tableau best practices
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication
• Ability to gather requirements independently
• Manage client expectations and handle ambiguity

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with MDS System and/or Element analysis (GMD, C2BMC, THAAD, Aegis, Patriot) or other DoD weapon system
• Ability to mentor others and manage teams as and when required
• Tableau Specialist or DQA certificate
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Exposure to Angular JS
• Exposure to cloud technologies such as, AWS, Azure
