Data Scientist

Spotify is looking to hire a Data Scientist to support the data and insight needs for its India business. This role will help shape the direction of business by enabling evidence based decisions, and will support the India team across business strategy, marketing, music and podcasts.

This role will be part of the insights and strategy team, and will report into the Head of Insights of SAMEA (South Asia, Middle East and Africa).

What You'll Do

• Support the cross functional teams to drive improvements in user acquisition, engagement and conversions
• Analyze key business and content metrics to build insights for cross-functional partners
• Discover growth opportunities and areas for improvement by conducting proactive analyses to uncover insights
• Build a deeper insights into the full-funnel user behavior and user needs
• Help analyze the impact of various initiatives, and identify the key levers for growth
• Automate key data needs for functions via dashboards
• Share the insights and knowledge across teams through powerful presentations
• Maintain a culture of rigor and data curiosity by striving to make the cross-functional teams as data-driven as possible

Who You Are

• You have at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics or a similar field
• You have a minimum of 4-6 years experience with mixed data skills and approaches (analytics tools and data science);
• You have strong analytical skills, including business analysis /modeling, statistics, experimental design and automation
• You have strong SQL/BigQuery skills and experience with BI tools like Tableau/Looker
• It will be good to have intermediate expertise in Python
• You have strong data visualization and information design skills and are proficient in data principles, system and data architecture
• You have a basic understanding of modeling techniques (e.g. regression models, clustering, classification, causal inference, etc)
• You are naturally inquisitive and proactive in exploring new data sets and projects
• You have strong communication skills and are fluent in spoken and written English
• You are a team player with strong partner management skills
• It is preferable to have experience in consumer tech, media or consulting industries
• You should be conversant with the latest digital and consumer trends (Music industry a plus)
• Prior experience of working across distributed, cross-cultural and global teams will be a plus
