Job Description
Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, Inc. (Albany, NY) seeks Data Scientist to maintain, improve, cultivate, clean, and manipulate data pipelines. Use knowledge and experience of full data science workflow with an emphasis on data provisional steps to transform raw datasets into derived datasets that emphasize feature loading, engineering, and selection. Work closely with senior data scientists to build and maintain transformational workflows feeding a centralized analytic repository. Design and implement data analysis strategies for large claims and clinical data sets using predictive modeling, data mining, econometric, and statistical methods. Utilize data and visualizations to guide decision making around clinical, marketing, contracting, operational, and/or health IT opportunities and partnerships. Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including but not limited to: data acquisition, cleansing/preparation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Identify and execute opportunities for streamlining processes so that similar analyses can be more efficiently implemented in the future (including automating them where feasible). Develop and/or specify a mix of reporting and statistics to let stakeholders (e.g. doctors, hospital, plans) profile themselves against benchmarks on any relevant measure (e.g. cost, quality, efficiency, utilization), and drill into the data to identify outliers and ways to act upon them (e.g. identify the root cause and/or viable opportunities for fixing the outlier status). Develop and/or specify drill-down reports (optimized to support the stakeholder's workflow) that let stakeholders easily identify and monitor suspicious patterns or trends, and drill into the details to identify the root cause so that they can take corrective action. Develop and implement techniques to automatically identify suspicious patterns or trends among cohorts (along with their possible root cause), and proactively push that information to the appropriate stakeholders. May telecommute from any location in the U.S.
Requirements: Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics or a related quantitative field, with two (2) years of experience in statistics/data science, including hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Cloudera Impala, SAS, Python, R, Scala, Tableau, MongoDB, Matlab, Google Cloud Platform and Cognos.
