Summary
This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Inspector General. As a Data Scientist, you will be supporting the work of the OIG within the Office of Information Technology. Tasks include planning and executing data and analytical studies of HUD Program areas, developing scripts, algorithms and models, and performing data management functions.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience drawing conclusions based upon the rules, principles or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information in reference to operations; AND
- Facilitating the integration of technologies by analyzing data and providing recommendations in a research and development environment using statistical analysis or other math/data science-based approach.
- Experience drawing conclusions based upon the rules, principles or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information in reference to operations; AND
- Utilizing analytical tools, such as special studies, surveys or tests to support the organizations abilities and efforts on mission-oriented deliverables; AND
- Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis using cross sectional data; AND
- Collecting data through multiple mechanisms (e.g., surveys, data systems) for data analysis; AND
- Preparing and delivering technical/narrative reports for making program decisions; AND
- Reporting results or trends in graphs, charts, or dashboards.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience using both supervised and unsupervised modeling to make business decisions and for forecasting/predicting outcomes.
Education
To be qualified for this position, you must meet the basic educational and/or work experience requirements for Data Scientist positions in the federal government.
These requirements are:
A) A degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
B) A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours/45 quarter hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
