The Performance Drilling Center directly impacts drilling operations by utilizing centralized drilling expertise that are focused on execution optimization while providing proactive, data driven decisions and the implementation of real-time technology with the overall objective to support drilling operations through optimizing performance & proactively managing risk.

Job Summary:

The automation Performance Drilling Center (PDC) Data Scientist will be responsible for product/project managing the PDC's digital infrastructure to meet the demands of the business. Develop new automation techniques to reduce operational cost and make real-time decisions by pushing the Performance Drilling Center optimization processes from reactive to proactive. Support field operations and Drilling engineering with software/process design and implementation.

Areas of Focus:
• Develop and optimize existing and new expansion of the PDC systems.
• Own project management processes: pre-scoping and prioritizing projects, coordinating with Technology Solutions & 3rd party real-time dash boarding framework on sprint cycles, and collaborating with Field leadership on testing and rollouts
• Work with domain experts / data scientists to understand needs / constraints / limitations
• Work with software engineers / vendors to integrate solutions in practical workflows and provide scalable + long term sustainable solutions for PDC
• Work with Drilling leadership and cross-org business partners to prioritize development
• Identify and develop both software and hardware solutions as it relates to PDC automation.
• Research and develop data analytics (including streaming) and / or intelligent systems for drilling applications and dashboarding
• Work with support staff to insure 24/7 availability of the PDC system
• Work with PDC and field operations to resolve and test new software and devices
• Train PDC and field personnel on new software and equipment
• Develop and maintain standards for communication processes and devices

Qualifications:
• Graduate / Undergraduate students in Data Science / Petroleum / Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics/Statistics or a highly quantitative discipline
• 4 years of experience designing or managing software data systems and programs. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree in engineering
• Demonstrated commitment to innovation
• Broad knowledge of basic statistics and statistical interpretation of quantitative data
• Experience in project management and understanding design of experiment
• Strong knowledge of drilling engineering fundamentals
• Broad understanding of artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and machine learning
• Willingness to learn programming skills in Python, SQL and/or Pipes is required
• Strong verbal communication skills and data presentation skills, including ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with time series modeling / Machine Learning / Deep Learning concepts or completed E&P projects demonstrating usage of these frameworks is a plus.
• Experience with visualization tools such as TIBCO-Spotfire, Power BI or real-time monitoring platforms is a plus (having UI design experience is ideal).
• Expertise in real-time data is desired with a strong focus on minimizing failures and optimizing operations through data driven decision
