You will join an interdisciplinary team of scientists and technologists driven to removing barriers to data sharing and enabling knowledge discovery through advanced analytics. We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Data Visualization and Data Science Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data science and experience in creating compelling visualizations that convey complex data in an accessible format. They should have the capability to work independently and possess an analytical mindset with a background in biological sciences or virology.
What we are looking for someone to do
- Develop and implement advanced data visualization tools and dashboards to effectively communicate trends, patterns, and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including web developers, to integrate visualizations into our website and ensure they are updated, accurate, and reflect our data's current state.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets within the context of biological sciences or virology.
- Proactively explore data to find hidden insights and develop new metrics to measure various aspects of business performance.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to management to aid in decision-making processes.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in data science, visualization tools, and techniques in the field of biological sciences.
Requirements
The following requirements are representative of the day-to-day activities of the technical team.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a data science or data visualization role, preferably in the biological sciences, immunology, or virology domain.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Experience in creating interactive dashboards and implementing visualizations in web environments.
- Strong understanding of database concepts for data analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex results to non-expert stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of web development frameworks and languages (e.g., JavaScript, D3.js, HTML, CSS) is a plus.
- Data modeling, data processing and data transformation experience.
- Prior experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or clinical research industries.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
- Knowledge of software development processes such as continuous development, continuous integration, testing and pipeline development
- Strong SQL background and ability to build queries, and create data pipelines.
- AWS Cloud services experience.
