Cloud and Network Services

As Nokia's growth engine, we create value for communication service providers and enterprise customers by leading the transition to cloud-native software and as-a-service delivery models. Advanced Technology Group is a leading-edge technology validation and new solution incubation organization within Cloud & Network Services. We explore cutting edge technology and the use of it in the area of 5G/6G, distributed clouds/edge clouds, APIs/SDKs and platforms, AR/VR/XR, AI/ML, crypto/smart contracts/NFT etc. We innovate and incubate new solutions utilizing these technology. We are driving new ideas for the telco transformation and specifically how we could transform networks into easily consumable capabilities in digital ecosystem and hence enable developers to build altogether new type of applications for Industry 4.0.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of the Cloud & Network Services (CNS) Advanced Technology Group, you will participate in performing evaluation of leading edge technology, including surveying, selecting, benchmarking and recommending suitable technology that are of strategic importance to CNS.

As part of our team, you will:

  • focus on enabling and realizing the future autonomous network.
  • survey and keep track of leading edge technology in the field of AI/ML for telecom including sub-domains such as reinforcement learning, optimization and decision theory.
  • define and plan out evaluation methods to validate the performance of relevant software.
  • implement, code, prototype in order to study the technology in details; with the goal of recommending suitable technology to downstream teams.
  • help build proof-of-concept solutions and support engineering teams at-large to adopt such technology.

Your skills and experience

You have:

  • a PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • prior research and/or work experience in the field autonomous system design, reinforcement learning application, multi-objectives optimization, etc.
  • high comprehension ability for state-of-the-art and academic description of the latest innovation in this field
  • strong math background effective utilization and application of such software
  • proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, Javascript
  • some background in full stack software environment include frontend, backend, cloud computing.
  • strong inquisitive mindset and solid problem-solving skills.
  • excellent communication skill and can collaborate in global team setting

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Previous experience as co-op or intern at Nokia
  • Experience in networking, telecom operation, cloud-native operation
  • Experience in building production grade big data systems
