Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist II to join our team at Cox Communications. As a Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing and managing the forecasts in support of network planning, as well as other analytical and advanced analytics regarding network growth and planning optimization. You will collaborate closely with network strategy and systems architecture, field engineering and operations, DOCSIS engineering, video engineering, and other tactical and operational network planning teams to ensure efficient spectrum allocation and utilization.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with network planning and engineering teams to analyze and interpret network data for planning and optimization purposes.
- Develop and implement data-driven models and algorithms to optimize network capacity, performance, and resource allocation.
- Analyze network traffic patterns, user behavior, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop actionable insights.
- Assist in designing and executing experiments to evaluate network performance and validate proposed optimization strategies.
- Develop statistical and machine learning models to predict network behavior and forecast future capacity requirements.
- Apply data visualization techniques to effectively communicate complex network planning insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, software developers, and data analysts, to integrate data-driven solutions into network planning processes.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure availability, quality, and integrity of network data for analysis.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in network planning, data science, and machine learning techniques.
- Assist in documenting findings, methodologies, and recommendations for future reference.
Requirements:
Minimum
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python or R.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, such as regression, clustering, decision trees, SARIMA, and neural networks.
- Understanding of SQL and database management systems to extract and query network data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to extract actionable insights from complex network datasets.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
Preferred
- Familiarity with data collection methods, including network monitoring tools, APIs, and scraping techniques.
- Experience with TelCo or MSO
- Experience with data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing techniques to handle large-scale network datasets.
