The Central AI team operates in a hub-and-spoke model to drive AI development and accelerate data transformation across the company's various business divisions.

Position Overview

Trimble's Central AI team is growing and looking for an individual with strong analytical and data engineering skills to join an exciting, high-growth environment as a Data Engineer/Scientist. The ideal candidate is driven by curiosity and a desire to learn and master new techniques, to solve real-world problems across a number of industries. They demonstrate the ability to work with data in its various forms, have a firm understanding of basic machine learning and data science principles and real world experience working with moving data, and contributing to machine learning models.

The role of the Data Engineer/Scientist is two-fold. They will both contribute to moving and preparing data across various environments with Trimble Central AI and different Trimble business segments, as well as contribute to the development and deployment and monitoring of machine learning models across Trimble. The candidate will also participate in the evaluation of different machine learning tools, the evaluation of MLOps technologies, big data tools, and data handling and manipulating tools. assess the value of internal product data for the creation of market indices for sectors such as construction, agriculture, utilities and transportation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with moving data and optimizing data queries used with Snowflake, MS SQL, and other relational and non-relational data storage technologies
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret datasets from internal and external sources
  • Develop code in SQL, Python and work with Bitbucket and other Trimble eTools.
  • Build and evaluate models, either independently or in collaboration with other Data Scientists
  • Document and communicate with other members of Central AI as well as across the various business units in Trimble.


Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineer, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience with proven results
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Experience working on cloud based big data platforms such as DataBricks and Apache Spark
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both development and business resources
  • Present analysis results clearly and concisely

This compensation range is based on a full time schedule.
