Data Software Engineer

First Orion is seeking an entry level Data Software Engineer to join our collaborative and winning First Orion Global Telecom Reporting team. This team provides businesses with valuable insights into how our Call Protection and Branding Communications products are performing. This is a small team that is expected to grow. This team works with large-scale data every day.

What you'll be doing:

• Design, implement, and test data pipelines in AWS
• Contribute to advancing reliability and performance of the service architecture; introduce new performance counters and instrumentation points
• Participate in the provisioning, deployment and troubleshooting of First Orion data pipelines and customer reports
• Primary owner of ETL process in Databricks
• Tier 2 support

What you'll need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related major
• Can be 2 years relevant professional experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience using C#, Java, or another programming language in a work or academic project
• Experience working in a *nix environment
• Experience working with SQL Databases
• Self-starter personality
• Ability and mindset to dive into unfamiliar problems and come up with unique solutions
• Ability to work independently and in a team-based setting

Bonus Points:

• Experience working with Redshift databases
• AWS experience (Kinesis, S3, RedShift)
• Experience working in Scala
• Knowledge with DataBricks or other big data analytical engines; can be projects
