The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Acquisition Analysis and Insights Department (AAID) applies innovative acquisition, systems engineering, and data engineering strategies and tools to address evolving needs and threats and to inform customer decisions. In this position, the candidate will aid the department in advancing its systems engineering expertise and capabilities by applying innovative digital and data engineering solutions to enable enterprise integration and provide more robust data insights. The candidate will collaborate on multi-disciplined teams and should be able to effectively communicate with all levels of corporate technical staff and leadership. Primary customers include Corporate Offices, DOD, DOE (e.g., NNSA), NASA, and Intelligence Community (IC) agencies.
This role is a hybrid position working remotely and onsite in El Segundo, CA. Some travel is required for the role.
What You'll Be Doing

• Develop resilient, optimized data-centric lifecycle systems engineering solutions that enable digital transformation and enterprise integration and support corporate digital engineering initiatives
• Identify innovative technologies and operational enhancements to improve process, design, safety, resiliency/reliability, and/or cost efficiency
• Create data tools that support model development
• Engage with customers to understand requirements and recommend the most effective and efficient data engineering solutions to meet their needs
• Identify and develop process improvements for automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and enhancing data capture and analysis
• Enhance the data engineering culture in AAID
• Employ a rigorous and methodical approach to problem solving and root cause identification
• Support the delivery of independent, data-driven technical recommendations to management and customers through effective verbal and written communication

• From a velocity perspective, the individual in this role will partner with others to reflect on existing technical and process expertise with the goal of improvements in efficiency and timeliness of data and knowledge.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
What You Need to be Successful

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in systems or aerospace engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM field
• 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience, including experience in systems engineering, data science, and/or program management
• Knowledge of space, launch, and/or ground systems engineering and the ability to communicate related material in an engaging manner
• Experience managing large data sets
• Proficiency in at least one programming languages (Python preferred)
• Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with DoD, DoE, Civil, and Commercial customers
• Ability to be flexible, adaptable, proactive, and self-motivated to effectively manage multiple simultaneous tasks

• Ability to work within a team environment
• Strong interpersonal, organization, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to identify and communicate recommendations and concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
• Willingness to support tasks requiring occasional business travel
• This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance, issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:

• Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau
• Proficiency with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira and Confluence, at a minimum) and establishing workflows
• Demonstrated experience with database management, machine learning, and data pipelines
• Industry experience working with space, launch, and/or ground systems
• Proficiency with multiple programming languages, modeling tools, and/or analysis tools
• Proficiency with Amazon Web Services or similar cloud infrastructure
• Current TS/SCI security clearance
• Professional certification(s) in a related STEM field

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
