Summary:
The Enterprise Data organization drives value for Hershey by providing high-quality, well-governed data to the Enterprise for analytics and decision-making.
The Data Visualization Engineer will be part of the Data Visualization Engineering team, engaging with Hershey Information Services partners, business stakeholders, and vendors to deliver enterprise-grade, best-in-class data analytics, and visualization solutions. This role will provide a solution delivery experience with a focus on the administration and optimization of BI environments for usability, performance, flexibility, testability, standardization, and automation.
The Data Visualization Engineer will act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and leadership for complex projects and issues, offering insights and recommendations on best practices, including performance improvements. You will work with a diverse team of business analysts, data scientists, technical engineers, data architects, and project managers to deliver outcomes aligned with our business partner's strategy. In addition, you will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Data Visualization to ensure consistency and compliance of deliverables to frameworks and governance processes.

Data Visualization Maintenance/Optimization:
Provide support, maintenance, and enhancements to self-service analytics platforms ensuring stability, quality, and performance. Resolved all incidents and requests for changes in a timely fashion.

Data Visualization Engineering Domain:
Develop data analytics and visualization skills within the Data Analytics community through knowledge sharing sessions, training, roundtables, etc. Drive self-service analytics adoption and foster a Data Culture across the company.

Data Visualization Engineering Solution Delivery:
Develop and deliver high-quality data visualization, reporting, and analytical solutions - adhering to best practice, privacy, and governance principles.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Provide full lifecycle BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau or Alteryx) administration (patches, updates, AD security, account management, capacity management, documenting processes) including the ability to work with data owners, solution managers, and report developers to support their needs following Hershey self-service best practices and guidelines.
- Perform administrative functions to ensure proper global settings configuration and provision of organizational resources in all aspects of Desktop and Cloud Services.
- Monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements.
- Consult the business and project teams on the visualization and impacts on data requirements, while providing architectural designs, configurations, administration, and functional support.
- Develop complex analytical solutions, while maintaining the output performance.
- Lead offshore Application Managed Services team to provide daily production system and user support ensuring the delivery of resolutions within Service Level Agreements.
- Maintain the performance and optimization of certified reports/datasets and analytical solutions.
- Provide consultation to business users on various facets of Power BI, Tableau and Alteryx development, customer solution integration, infrastructure, APIs integration, etc.
- Model the standards and best practices established by Enterprise Data leadership, including change management and prioritization.
- Lead data literacy initiative by engaging with vendors to set up training schedules, facilitating sessions, and promoting self-service analytical tools adoptions across the company.
- Deploy and maintain Security Integrations with Enterprise Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, SAML, and other next-gen IdP (Identity Provider).
- Research industry practices; collect and analyze data; draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations; present results in written reports or oral presentations using visual aids.
- Create rich Power BI visualizations, DAX queries and work with Power Query, M code language for data integration and transformation as per the business requirement.
- Install, configure, and maintain gateways, manage access provisioning to users.
- Contribute significantly to capacity planning activities, knowledge, and support of similar platforms at the enterprise level.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a closely related technical/engineering field
- Master's degree and/or related equivalent experience preferred.
- One or more business intelligence technical certifications are preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in prepping, cleansing, modeling, analyzing, and visualizing data utilizing self-service data wrangling and report development software, much of which has been focused on working with cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data management programs.
- 3+ years of solid experience in administration and management of Business Intelligence platforms including the configuration of governance policies, usage monitoring, and provisioning of licenses, capacities, and organizational resources.
- Experienced with Command Prompt and PowerShell scripting for automation utilizing Power BI APIs.
- Experienced with Compliance, Auditing, Data Privacy, Data Classification, Security, and Controlling Access.
- Experience in building solutions that monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements.
- Knowledge of relational/non-relational databases e.g., Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data solutions, SAP Business Warehouse, or Hadoop.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical partners.
