Summary

Do you like to create engaging and informative dashboards and reports from datasets? Do you enjoy dealing with complex, multi-variable problems using innovative analytics? Xcel Energy is looking for smart, innovative interns with data visualization, data management, and data governance skills to join our team. We develop solutions leveraging various tools and techniques to present data in meaningful ways and then implement scalable solutions in data-driven environments.

Data management skills are essential to this position. The ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate and analyze complex datasets is imperative to this position. We are looking for analytical thinkers that can quickly get a feel for our data and work with minimal direction. We want you to bring fresh ideas to our team and help us to improve our processes.

Minimum

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program for Business/Data Analytics, Mathematics/Computer Science, Statistics, or similar program that has data and process skills.
• Data Management skills: ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate and analyze complex datasets.
• Experience assessing data quality and applying data governance principles. (e.g., data quality, metadata management, data security, master data management etc.).
• Experience with data visualization tools/languages such as Posit, Power BI, SAP Cloud Analytics etc.
• Experience or interest in data collection, data mapping, processing, cleaning, validation, and documentation Passion for learning (new problem domains, algorithms, tools etc).
• Comfortable presenting key findings and storytelling using data visualizations.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.
• Ability to create engaging and informative dashboards and reports from data.

Preferred

• Experience working with large data sets, especially leveraging Databricks and Spark.
• Experience with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
• Engineering background
• Experience in DAMA DMBOK data governance principles
• Power Platform development experience (PowerApps, PowerBI, Power Automate)
• Exposure and understanding of foundational statistics concepts and algorithms: linear/logistic regression, random forest, boosting, etc.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $27.20 per hour

This position may also be eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays, Personal holidays
