Job Description

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Data Engineer to join the Trimble Cloud Data team. Our team is building the platform fueling Trimble's digital transformation. We take a cloud-first approach to deliver customer-centric experiences & platform web services that are used by Trimble product teams and Trimble partners. This means we have access to some of the most exciting data across Trimble's breadth of domains which include Construction, Transportation, Geospatial, and Agriculture.

As a Data Engineer, you will be designing solutions to translate complex business requirements into data integration architectures that meet organizational needs and leverage the enterprise data pipeline in compliance with security and legal policies. Trimble Data Pipeline is mission-critical for Trimble's Data strategy and will serve hundreds of thousands of users. You will see a direct correlation between your work, company growth, and user satisfaction.

Responsibilities include:
  • Understand how to successfully evaluate problems and develop optimal solutions for business divisions, covering all data management domains (data pipelines, data collection, integrations, aggregations, & reporting/analytics).
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, and represent key data insights visually in a meaningful way.
  • Able to work on multiple projects at a time, with the ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies
  • Statistical modeling and exploratory analysis


As a member of the data team, you will use a variety of technologies and have the opportunity to explore and use new and emerging technologies. We are looking for intelligent, organized, driven, and effective engineers.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Data Analytics/Engineering or related field
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience with proven results
  • Ability to think critically and work independently.
  • Understand the core concepts of data engineering, like data lakes, columnar formats, ETL tools, BI tools etc.
  • Possess an aptitude and passion for tackling challenges.
  • Demonstrably strong Python/Java/SQL skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment


Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark/EMR/Hive/Presto and data warehouse technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, ElasticSearch
  • Demonstrable proficiency with a wide variety of Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as S3, EC2,and IAM
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • AI/ML exposure a big plus
