Database Administrator
Job Description
Position Summary
The Database Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, security, back-up, and improvement of our system, ensuring optimal performance of our systems and products. This role will analyze database architecture to ensure that Company goals are being met with respect for data backup policies, appropriate patch updates, and overall database management.
Essential Functions
- Configures database parameters and defines data repository requirements.
- Tests databases after updated to gauge the level of efficiency.
- Designs configures and manages databases using SQL to ensure the integrity, security and accessibility of the organizations data.
- Troubleshoots databases that experience malfunction to identify the source of the error.
- Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance reliability of the system.
- Assists in determining the cause of database problems and determines a solution to implement.
- Evaluates and identifies areas of improvement within the organizations databases.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools.
- Resolves database performance and capacity issues.
- Creates and monitors policies, procedures and standards in relation to database management for effective operation.
- Effectively manage a budget and make value-based decisions regarding roll-out and experimentation.
Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of SQL experience
- Strong organization skills, accurate, and detail-oriented
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
- Knowledge of business processes to provide data solutions
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Technical expertise in data models and database design development.
- Demonstrated ability to be organized and self-directed
- Ability to think creatively and come up with solutions
- Ability to critically review, summarize, and report findings and recommendations
