Database Administrator - Jr Level

A3 Technology, Inc. is seeking a junior level Database Administrator to join our Data Warehouse group in Washington, DC. The Database Administrator will provide data warehouse infrastructure support.

This position is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Support a Data Warehouse that uses Oracle and Postgres relational database management systems. The data warehouse includes UNIX, MS Windows and Sun-based operating systems and are connected to Fiber Channel and iSCSI storage environments. VMware, Solaris, Linux and Windows operating systems are on the servers.
• Phase in new technologies into the data warehouse baseline, such as virtual machines, Ubuntu and Elastic Kubernetes Service.
• Provide development, test, integration, staging and production environment support.
• Monitor the status of the cloud environment.
• Support equipment life-cycle maintenance and install, monitor, configure and administer new or upgraded equipment.
• Maintain the daily operation of systems on the network, operating systems and the multi-disciplined intelligence automated systems and databases the system accesses.
• Support weekend maintenance windows.
• Coordinate changes, testing and implementation.
• Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.
• Develop standards and user guidelines to access database. Specify users and user access levels.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
• Schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products.
• Monitor database performance and develop optimum values for database parameters.
• Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems.

Skills Required:

• Experience maintaining a data warehouse for a large enterprise (over 35,000 users).
• Experience with Linux, Windows and virtual servers.
• Experience managing storage solutions.
• Experience with cloud environments and solutions.
• Experience managing user permissions, access standards and security for the database.
• Experience managing change control, testing and implementation.
• Experience with Cisco routers, switches and VLAN architecture.
• Experience tracking and resolving incidents via ticket queue.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to adhere to maintenance windows and change control procedures.
• Self-motivated to take ownership of projects.
• US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is required.
• Upon conditional offer of employment candidates will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain Government clearance.
• Verification of past employment, verification of education and references are also required.

Skills Preferred:

• Advanced degrees.
• Certifications such as Oracle Certification Program and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.
• Experience working with a large organization (>35,000 customers).
• Experience collaborating with peer and client teams.
• Experience working remotely and onsite.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and 6 years of IT experience.
