Database Design Engineer 4

Job Summary: Design and develop new, and modify existing, databases for a large scale distributed Simulation system. Identify, design and implement supporting processes and infrastructure. Implement tools to assist in data analysis and presentation. Responsibilities include: design and documentation, coding and testing, support for integration and test and Trouble Report fixes across the breadth of the data management services.

Essential Job Functions:

• Design, implement, and manage databases for C2SET
• Assist with the design and extension of data models
• Assess existing data models and persistence mechanism for improvement opportunities
• Estimate and advise on infrastructure requirements to support data retention plans
• Prototype visualizations with lightweight data visualization suites -
• Comply with, and participate in, program software development processes and practices

Required Skills:

• Experience implementing and building event driven architectures - Familiarity with event driven finite state machines
• High proficiency in SQL to include schema design, data definition, and advanced queries
• Experience with Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) data warehouses
• Experience with scripting languages for automating repetitive tasks - Experience with creating automated data pipelines for complex systems - Extensive Linux server management background
• Experience in Linux/Windows to include shell scripting
• Ability to test and debug
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences

The following skills would be considered a plus:

• Experience supporting military training events/exercises utilizing simulation-based training systems
• AFSIM
• Secure systems
• Expertise in Java, C++, JavaScript
• Experience with geospatial representation technologies
• Human factors training and experience
• Familiar with industry software development standards and with the capabilities of related Department of Defense software systems on closed networks with no Internet access.
• Use of Git or similar version control system

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university or any bachelor's and two years additional software development experience. High school diploma and 5 years' additional software development experience can substitute for bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 8 years related experience.

Other Requirements: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
