The Opportunity

This role is fully remote.

A Summer Internship at Nutanix is an opportunity to gain exposure to one or more areas according to your skill set and interests. If you're interested in the following type of work, the Database Engineering Internship would be perfect for you!

• Database systems (PostgreSQL , SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB)
• Windows/Linux Systems and Storage development
• Microservices, Kubernetes, Containers, Cloud Native application development
• Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), Continuous integration and deployment
• Development of a big data processing platform

Each intern is paired with a Member of Technical Staff who serves as a guide/mentor through our engineering culture, toolsets, and development methodology. Our internship program also includes a series of lunch and learns, soft-skill workshops, Intern hack-a-thon, and social gatherings (virtual or in-person where permitted) to expose you to other aspects of a rapidly growing technology company.

Your Role

• Develop platform layer that interacts with Nutanix storage and provides API services to layers above
• Develop an understanding of use cases and work on innovative solutions for customer requirements

• Architect, design, and develop software for the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform
• Develop a deep understanding of complex distributed systems and design innovative solutions for customer requirements
• Work alongside development, test, documentation, and product teams to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in the New Hire R&D Bootcamp to gain a high-level understanding of the Nutanix product suite, various tools, and processes
• Participate in U-Hack (Nutanix Intern Hack-a-Thon) which is a way to interact with other R&D interns and derive innovative solutions to various roadblocks across the organization

What You'll Bring

• You are pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• You are skilled in one of the following languages: C++,Java, Python, Golang, or HTML/CSS/JavaScript
• You have taken courses or completed research in the areas of database, operating systems, files systems, big data, algorithms and data structures, and/or cloud computing
• You have a passion and ability to learn new things, while never being satisfied with the status quo
• Experience with Linux or Windows
• You have less than 2 years of professional experience
