Job Title:Day Porter / Building Maintenance Reports To:Director of Family Services Location: 7524 Avenue E Houston, TX 77012 Employment Status:Full-Time / Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Department:Facilities & Operations Position Summary: The Day Porter/Building Maintenance staff member plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for the nonprofit’s staff, clients, and guests. This role combines janitorial support with light maintenance duties and requires a high level of attention to detail and commitment to service excellence. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Custodial & Janitorial: • Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, breakrooms, and communal areas throughout the day • Restock restroom and kitchen supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) • Empty trash and recycling bins and maintain waste collection areas • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust common areas and office spaces as needed • Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly throughout shift • Perform all other tasks assigned so long as they are in keeping with the mission, purpose, and goals of the Agency. Maintenance Support: • Conduct daily building walkthroughs to identify and report facility issues • Perform basic repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor plumbing, tightening hardware) • Assist in setup and breakdown for meetings and special events • Support HVAC filter checks, routine maintenance schedules, and contractor coordination • Ensure all storage, mechanical, and janitorial closets are clean, organized, and safe Safety & Compliance: • Ensure all janitorial supplies are properly stored and labeled • Report safety hazards, damages, or suspicious activity promptly • Follow OSHA, fire, and health regulations and building safety protocols Customer Service: • Provide polite and professional assistance to staff, clients, and guests • Serve as an onsite presence during operating hours for any facility support needs Education/Experience required N/A Skills:Experience: At least one year of experience in a maintenance position. Additional: Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver's License. Ability to relate to others in a positive manner Positive attitude towards persons requesting assistance and Professional personal presentation Flexibility in relation to work schedule Schedule: Working Hours 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm
