JOB DUTIES SUMMARY:

1. Makes own set-ups, maintains set-ups, sets feeds and speeds, and operates a battery of double disc grinders.
2. Sets up compensators. Cleans and lubricates compensator actuator shafts.
3. Checks grinding wheel disc angle. Advises supervisor of need for adjustment.
4. Dresses own grinding wheels and checks for flatness.
5. Maintains coolant ratio and levels. Responsible for media filter cartridge change.
6. Lubricates equipment as needed.
7. Performs visual and dimensional inspection using gauging equipment required.
8. May be required to record counts, production, maintain charts, job cards, labor tickets, and identification tickets.
9. Maintain safe operation and good housekeeping.
10. Advise coordinator of need for equipment maintenance and quality attention.
11. May perform other related duties. Must apply all environmental and safety procedures as outlined in work instructions.

SKILL SUMMARY: Requires the ability to use shop math, standard measuring instruments, and blueprints and routings. Makes decisions based on established procedures. Must be able to read and understand all work instructions including those pertaining to safety and environmental impacts.

DEMANDS SUMMARY: Requires fairly continuous handling of light and medium weight materials. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to frequently bend, reach, crouch, climb stairs and up and down PIT equipment. Requires constant visual and mental attention. Requires some overtime.

CONDITIONS SUMMARY: Working conditions are fairly good. Operators are required to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
