Defined Contribution Business Development Director, Institutional
Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Defined Contribution Business Development Director is leading the new client development and marketing within the large and mega plan sponsor defined contribution market. This will involve partnering with Nuveen's Institutional Sales team on prospecting new clients and direct selling complex investment management and TIAA's lifetime income solutions to plan sponsors. Responsibilities will also include educating plan sponsors and leading the growth of "pension like" guaranteed income solutions in the large 401k plan market.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and develop the DC business strategy for the Corporate DB/DC team, with accountability to both the Head of Retirement Investing as well as the Head of Corporate DB/DC
- Partner with Corporate DB/DC team to establish DC sales goals, including Lifetime Income
- Develop and drive new opportunities from beginning to end: prospecting, initial pitch, finals presentations, client onboarding, and ongoing client service
- Partner with Nuveen Retirement Marketing to identify key targets and develop and execute an effective sales calling/correspondence campaign to qualified leads
- Attend and speak at industry DC conferences (P&I, PSCA, etc.) on the advantages of incorporating lifetime income into 401k plans
- Call upon all resources of the firm (people and technology) to provide valuable solutions to strengthen relationships
- Understand key competitors and position the firm's products effectively relative to those competitors
- Proactively cross-sell the firm's products to existing clients where appropriate
- Exceed client service expectations through proactive on-going communication
- University (Degree) Preferred

Base Pay Range: $137,800/yr. - $229,600/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
