DEI Director

The DEI Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of DEI programming and initiatives that align with the organization's strategic objectives and goals. This role acts as a subject-matter expert, working collaboratively across the organization to educate, engage and build momentum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify opportunities for integration and alignment between DEI and OneAmerica's enterprise priorities
- Create and deliver learning experiences, training and tools that enable associates, leaders, and other key stakeholders to build DEI acumen and foster a culture of inclusion
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Community Affairs, Talent Acquisition and Vendor Management to identify resources and partnership opportunities that create greater engagement with diverse candidates, organizations, and communities
- Collaborate with Enterprise Marketing and Communications (EMC) to execute on the development and delivery of internal and external communications
- Measure, track and analyze data to establish benchmarks, report on progress and identify opportunities to drive improved outcomes
- Provide effective guidance and oversight to OneAmerica's Business Resource Groups (BRGs), including providing insight into OneAmerica's DEI strategy, enterprise priorities, operating principles, and company policies
- Serve as a regular and active listener to gain insight into the voices of our associates, leaders and other key stakeholders in relation to matters impacting DEI at OneAmerica as well as within the local community
- Work directly with HR and other leaders to facilitate the creation and sustainability of action plans that advance DEI within OneAmerica's business lines and enterprise functions
- Design, build, and launch strategic programs that establish and infuse DEI throughout the associate experience as well as our business practices
- Leverage internal relationships to achieve DEI goals and promote organization-wide awareness of our DEI strategy.
- Identify and build relationships with external partners, including thought leaders and peer organizations, that deliver impact and support our DEI strategies for underrepresented groups.
- Represent OneAmerica at events, schools and other external forums as a subject matter expert
- Actively research and leverage industry best practices, trends and insights
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Master's degree is preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience in HR, DEI or a related field
- SHRM and/or DEI certification ideal
- Experience leading organizational effectiveness and/or change management strategies
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed environment
- Significant experience problem solving in a fast-paced, rapidly changing and complex environment
- Strong communication (written and verbal) as well as executive presence
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data
- Bias for action with strong results orientation
- Highly effective communicator with the ability lead and facilitate groups
- Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, build relationships and influence at all levels of an organization
- Understanding of employment law
Salary Band: 07B
This selected candidate will be expected to work Hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
